P74 Gallery

An Exhibition of Books Published by Lubok Verlag, Leipzig

You are invited to an exclusive exhibition of works by the Leipzig publisher LUBOK on Thurs., 15 Dec. 2011, at 8 p.m., at the P74 Centre and Gallery, Prušnikova 74, Ljubljana.

Lubok 10, Christoph Ruckhäberle ur., Lubok Verlag 2011

The Leipzig publishing house Lubok Verlag was founded in 2007 by the artist/publisher Christoph Ruckhäberle. Each year, Lubok invites ten artists to prepare an artist book project in the linocut technique. The books are printed on old presses from the original plates in editions of between 300 and 1,500 copies. The publishing house strives to produce books at reasonable prices, since it wants the book form to remain a democratic medium accessible to the general public.
Apart from artist books, Lubok also prints art monographs. The expansion of its publishing program to include offset printing offers new possibilities to artists who work in photography, drawing, and conceptual art.
Lubok Verlag is a regular participant at the most important trade fairs for independent publishers of artist books. In 2010, the publishing house was invited as a special guest to the Art Basel art fair, in the Off Press section. In recent years, Lubok has received a number of awards and honors for its work.
The exhibition has been organized in collaboration with Lubok Verlag. It is part of P74’s BLIND DATE series, which is dedicated to the promotion and support of artist books.

Selected books will be available at special holiday prices.
